Webb Wireless was started in 2002 and has grown steadily due to customer satisfaction. We do not advertise which both helps keep our costs down and our customer base manageable. We are proud to be locally owned and operated and believe in supporting the local businesses to keep our small towns thriving. Dennis D. Somers
Denny was born in Spencer, Iowa where he graduated from Spencer Senior High. After graduating from Spencer, Denny served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1974 when he was honorably discharged and returned home to attend Iowa State University for Construction Engineering. Denny worked for over 15 years in the construction management field until he and his brother Greg started their first telecommunications business. Denny served in the capacities of Customer Service Manager, Database Manager, Vice President, President and owner of the various companies that he and Greg owned together.
Denny is also the President, director and one of the founders of a NW Iowa (501 C3) called Special Youth Challenge Ministries. SYC, helps to enable kids between the ages of 12 and 19, with disabilities or life threatening illness, to go hunting and enjoy God’s great outdoors.
In 2002, Denny joined forces with Tim Sylvester and Tom Hansen to form Webb Wireless Communications. Together, they now serve customers with wireless internet in Northwest Iowa.Denny and his wife Linda live in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
Tim Sylvester was born and raised on the family farm near Webb. He is happily married to his wife Mindy and they have three beautiful children, Christian, Regan and Madison. Tim attended ISU where he earned his degree in Economics and Business. His dream for this company came with his desire to have high speed internet in the rural area, but also from his past involvement with radio communications and computer technologies. In the spring of 2002, he and his partner Denny joined interests and knowledge to commence the company of Webb Wireless. Tim is the Managing Partner, handling the day to day operations, service and network designs within the company. He also develops, implements and oversees the design of other company’s private networks and tower construction projects. Tim is active with his family, church and community. He enjoys spending time with his family while boating, playing sports, and traveling. Tim is the Fire Chief of Webb, on the Trinity United Methodist Church Board, on the Clay County 911 Board, President of the Clay County Fire Chief’s Association, sits on the Clay County Community Foundation Board and various other volunteer positions.
Tara Drees was born and raised a “city girl” in Duluth, MN. She moved to Webb in 1995 when she was working for Great Lakes Airlines as a flight attendant. She later met her husband Duane in Webb and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter Emily. During this time she worked for HyVee in Spencer for several years before working for Eaton corporation as both a machinist and assembler. In the fall of 2008, Tara was given the opportunity to work with Webb Wireless as office manager and enjoys working with the Webb Wireless team. Tara is an active member and teaches Sunday school at Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb. Although raised a “city girl,” Tara is proud to call this rural community her home, she can think of no better place to live and work and no better environment to raise a child in.
A northwest Iowa native, Tom grew up in Ruthven and graduated from high school there. He served in the US Navy for 4 years, then completed a 2 year apprenticeship with a master electrician. He worked for a general contractor for 10 years before starting his own company, TJ Hansen. A lifelong learner, Tom is a licensed electrician, licensed plumber/HVAC, and has worked in the satellite TV industry. He is a technician for Webb Wireless, installing and maintaining wireless internet systems. Tom has lived in Webb for 38 years he is an active member and administrative board president at Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb. He also serves on both the city council and the volunteer fire department.Tom and his wife, Janet, have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
